I tend to be an opportunistic photographer. While my main focus is to shoot birds, I am on the lookout for other subjects. Butterflies are always on the menu. Rarely do I carry a macro lens to shoot butterflies or other insects. Most of the photographs are made with my 300 or 500 lens. With these lenses, I can create a soft, blurred background that is both colorful and allows my subject to stand out. When a macro image is shown, I used a Canon EF100mm f/2.8 Macro lens supported on RRS BH-40 ballhead and a Slik Pro 813 CF-II tripod. Multiple camera bodies are used with that lens. If there is an error in naming any of the butterflies, please let me know.
